Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate's latest release, version 25.2, features several enhancements and updates, including the general database. These changes can impact custom report designs and third-party applications, making it crucial for users to stay informed and prepared. Enhancements include payroll trigger warning messages, correcting default payment types when importing invoices, 1098 Mortgage Interest form compliance, and more. We'll highlight a few, but you can review the full release notes here.
Payroll updates
The process for importing time data in U.S. Payroll has been significantly improved. Previously, if the Union Class of an employee was not set up under the Union Local, imports would fail. Now, the import completes successfully and prints relevant information, even when the Union Class is missing.
A new warning system is now active in the Payroll module. When using the Audit Setup Activity, manual changes to certain key payroll fields (such as “Current Month” and “Year-end date”) now trigger warning messages. This helps prevent miscalculations and incorrect totals due to manual edits, reinforcing compliance and accuracy. Each change is also logged with a timestamp and user information for audit trails.
Previously, when importing invoices using the variable import format, the Default Payment Type was incorrectly set to "Check." The correct payment type is now automatically defaulted to use the vendor's default Payment Type.
Audit Setup Activity warnings have been added, alerting users whenever changes are made to the "Year ending date" and "1099 year ending date" fields.
Previously, if a contract change order was saved as "Approved" and then changed to an unapproved status within the same session, the related Markup, Add-on, and Tax amounts were not reversed from the Contract Totals. Now, it correctly reverses the change request's amounts from the Contract Totals when the change order status is changed from Approved to an unapproved status within the same session.
Previously, the Tax Name and/or Tenant Name were sent to Aatrix in multiple name fields (Last Name/First Name and Full Name, or Company Name and Full Name). This caused duplicate name errors during processing. The Aatrix 1099 Preparation wizard validates the name fields and displays an error if duplicates exist within the same record, e.g., the same name appears in First Name/Last Name, Company Name, and/or Full Name.
The 1098 Mortgage Interest form generation process has been updated to print the full four-digit year on the form, in compliance with the IRS 2025 form requirements.
Sage 300 CRE 25.2 supports Crystal Reports 2020 (64-bit) with a new 64-bit ODBC driver. Users can leverage advanced reporting functionality, as well as continued support for existing 32-bit User Defined Libraries (UDFs). If you continue to use Crystal Reports 2016 or earlier, these changes won’t affect your workflow—both 32-bit and 64-bit environments are supported.
Sage 300 CRE is now compatible with Windows Server 2025, but if you've integrated your system with Sage Estimating, do not upgrade to the new server as Sage Estimating doesn't support it yet.
A new Inquiry Export tab has been added in order to specify a default export path for inquiries exported to Excel. The "Save In" path will default to the specified location. You can still choose a different location for individual exports if needed.
