Construction and Real Estate Yingst Building Group: Building the Future On A 50-Year Legacy
Yingst Homes was established in the late 1970s as a building company specializing in residential construction. The company was building more than just houses in Central Pennsylvania – but a reputation for reliability and excellence as well. Nearly five decades later, their name - Yingst Homes - was synonymous with reliability and local craftsmanship.
In April 2025, a transformative shift occurred: the company was acquired by BBK Holdings, forming Yingst Building Group (YBG). This wasn't merely a change in ownership, but rather a pivot toward a high-tech, high-growth future. The new leadership group focuses on driving efficiency through technology and expanding the company’s footprint far beyond the Harrisburg area.
We can now track loans, expenses, and transactions in one place, consolidate accounts, and complete reconciliations faster and more accurately.

More Than a House: Building Communities
For the Yingst Group, the goal isn't just to build more homes, but rather to foster a sense of belonging. Their vision for "building complete communities from start to finish" goes beyond revenue. It’s about creating a "lasting sanctuary" where families can grow, connect, and thrive for generations.
Their long-term success in earning customer trust is demonstrated by consistent loyalty and repeat business from clients over the years. It is not uncommon to find homeowners on their second or even third Yingst home. These repeat buyers chose this company because they know their homes maintain long-term "sell-ability" and value, but the true driver is the peace of mind that stems from a builder who has true integrity and prioritizes its customer, as well as high quality build.
The journey for the homeowner begins at their state-of-the-art selection gallery. Here, the "community" starts to take shape as buyers customize their homes from the ground up. Whether choosing 9-foot ceilings or best-in-class cabinetry, homeowners aren't just picking finishes - they are investing in a "Designed for Living - Crafted for Life" Yingst’ philosophy that ensures their home remains a sellable asset for decades to come.
Unifying Systems for a Strong Foundation
Before the transition to Sage Intacct, Yingst Homes and BBK Holdings had data in two separate on-premises legacy systems, lacking both flexibility and visibility.
"The legacy systems weren’t user-friendly and lacked integration, which would limit our growth. We needed a scalable, cloud-based solution," explained Joseph Campbell, Corporate Controller at Yingst Building Group.
Choosing Sage Intacct
While they evaluated their next move, YBG knew their software choice wasn't just about today’s operations - it was about the company’s future.
Campbell emphasized the company’s three non-negotiables:
- Scalability: While a simpler system might have sufficed for their current volume, they didn’t want to replace it in 3 to 5 years.
- Modular Capability: Unlike rigid, on-premises systems, Sage Intacct’s ability to integrate with best-in-class third-party modules meant that the group could build a custom tech stack perfectly tailored to the construction industry.
- Single Source of Truth: They required a system with massive storage capacity and cloud-based accessibility so that every transaction could be backed by digital proof (contracts, COIs, and OSHA certifications), streamlining audits and eliminating manual rework.
"We thoroughly examined Sage Intacct and found it met all our needs for today and tomorrow," recalled Campbell.
Partnering with the Digital Architects
While the initial introduction to RKL eSolutions came as part of a desire for a fresh start for the new ownership group, the decision to partner with them was deeply strategic. Yingst Building Group needed a partner whose expertise was as scalable as the software itself. RKL eSolutions stood out not just for their technical proficiency with Sage Intacct, but for their ability to act as a high-level consultant and support for a company with "its foot on the gas pedal" as Campbell said.
The Yingst team recognized that RKL was more than capable of supporting them - offering the deep industry knowledge required to bridge the gap between standard accounting and complex construction management. From identifying third-party integrations to building out sophisticated reporting, RKL proved they had the heavy lifting capacity to support YBG’s ambitious growth plans.
Laying the Groundwork: A Strategic Implementation
The implementation of Sage Intacct " began even before the acquisition was finalized," Campbell notes.
The rollout was handled in three strategic phases to ensure the finance team was ready for when they officially began operating as one company:
- Core Accounting: General Ledger (GL) and Accounts Payable (AP) were the first steps to ensure operations from day one.
- Operational Core: This involved rolling out the project/job costing module to track costs per lot so that every dollar spent on actual construction was recorded and monitored.
- Strategic Integrations: Best-in-class tools like Buildtopia and CorePay were integrated with Sage Intacct to perform high-volume, complex tasks.
We thoroughly examined Sage Intacct and found it met all our needs for today and tomorrow. Pound for pound, it is the best accounting software that I’ve come across.

From The Planning Stages to Reality
Moving to a cloud-based solution meant that YBG had a single source of truth. They could now attach every contract, vendor insurance certificate, and OSHA document directly to the transaction.
"We have access to our finances anytime, anywhere, as well as full integration with other systems. Everyone knows where to find the latest supporting documents for contracts, or vendors, or any other finance and accounting information they may need at any given moment no matter their location," explained Campbell.
Architecture for Efficient Dimensions
One of the most transformative shifts for Yingst Building Group was its ability to streamline its Chart of Accounts. Previously, tracking multiple loans or specific project costs required creating separate accounts, which made reconciliations highly time-consuming.
YBG now utilizes Sage Intacct’s Dimensions, a system of smart tags that allows a single account to be categorized by multiple attributes without creating new lines in the ledger.
"We can now track loans, expenses, and transactions in one place, consolidate accounts, and complete reconciliations faster and more accurately," explained Campbell.
The “Minor League” Expansion: Scaling Communities
Yingst is now prepared to scale to 1,000 homes a year, focusing on regions that national builders often overlook. By revitalizing these areas, Yingst is helping first-time builders realize their dreams and allowing local economies to thrive.
"We’re intentionally investing in communities that larger builders tend to pass over. Markets with minor league baseball teams are exactly where we see opportunity," said Campbell.
Now that they have implemented Sage Intacct, YBG finally has the foundation to build the communities they want and make their vision a reality. "Pound for pound, it (Sage Intacct) is the best accounting software that I've come across," concluded Campbell.
