Sage recently provided us with a preview of what's to come in Sage 500 ERP 2013 which is targeted for release in Nov-Dec 2012. For those of you that are wondering, Sage 500 2013 is the new name for what was previously referred to as "Version 7.5." Without further ado, let's take a look.
ACCOUNTING, FINANCE, AND CASH RECEIPTS
A wide range of customer-requested enhancements will benefit accounting and finance. A new Print ACH Remittance task makes it easy to generate the hard copy documentation required for ACH confirmation and audit purposes. And when it comes to managing cash receipts, Sage 500 customers submitted two primary requests:
Import Pending Cash Receipts - with the increased use of electronic funds transfer, lock boxes, and third party web pages, a new import utility will be added in cash receipts to minimize the manual entry typically required to process these alternative payment methods.
Tracking Miscellaneous Cash Receipts - standard reports and onscreen views will be enhanced to include miscellaneous cash receipt transactions in order to minimize the effort in reconciling these payments by Accounts Receivable and Cash Receipts personnel.
When it comes to Bank Reconciliation, Sage 500 2013 improves the experience with a re-sizable screen and the ability to reprint the register as many times as needed. Period End Closing is also enhanced with the ability to lock down postings (and override if needed) to individual sub-ledgers, offering better control over posting of “trailing” transactions after period end is complete.
SALES AND PRICING ENHANCEMENTS
Sage 500 ERP 2013 includes enhancements that improve the pricing of items, processing of orders, accuracy of tax calculations, and the assignment and tracking of freight charges. New features in these areas include the ability to implement Global Pricing Changes, Copy an Existing Sales Order or Quote (and modify it) to a new customer, improvements to the Sage Sales Tax module, and the introduction of a new and integrated shipping software suite by SmartLinc.
OTHER NOTABLE IMPROVEMENTS IN SAGE 500 ERP 2013
Sage 500 ERP 2013 also includes enhancements that are specific to Manufacturing operations, brand new Business Insights Explorer views, significant changes in Credit Card Processing including mobile card swipe capabilities, and broader "ease of use" improvements throughout the system.
