How to Use Product Notes & Links in Sage ERP X3

One of the key enhancements of Sage ERP X3 6.5 is the ability to create unlimited notes on the products you stock or sell, and specify where those notes are displayed.  You can also link to item images and supporting documentation which can improve customer service and add clarity during ordering.  Let's take a closer look at this new functionality...

HOW SAGE X3 NOTES WORK

When you launch a product record in Sage X3, you can now go to the Text Menu and select Product Notes.  From there, use the free-form entry field and begin typing the note that you'd like to associate with that particular product.  For instance, you might type out a reminder for your order entry personnel about a limited time promo for that product or provide a list of potential substitute items when the product is out of stock.

On this screen, you also define other characteristics of how and where the note will display including:

  • Effective Date - for notes that expire after a period of time.
  • Category - defines what functions, like sales or purchasing, the note will be visible in.
  • Display Options - choose whether the note automatically pops up when selecting the product during transaction entry.
  • Priority - determines priority of this note if multiple notes exist for a product.

SAGE X3 PRODUCT LINKS & IMAGES

Product records in Sage ERP X3 6.5 also provide a field for including links to product images, external websites, and supporting documentation like product specifications or  assembly instructions.  These are all potentially important tools that are made available onscreen so your customer service representatives have access to these documents while they're interacting with customers.
