How to Use Product Search in Sage ERP X3

When entering transactions that include products (inventory), you've always had a couple of options when searching the Sage ERP X3 database including the ability to right click on the Product Field or use Quick Select to filter the products that are displayed on the Selection List. But the release of Sage ERP X3 Version 6.5 introduced a new search option that you might find useful. Here’s how it works.

TYPE FIRST FEW CHARACTERS OF DESCRIPTION

The enhanced product search in Sage ERP X3 Version 6.5 allows you to simply type the first few characters of an item's description in the Product Field. By doing so, the selection list is automatically filtered making it faster and easier to find the product you’re looking for.

Prior to Version 6.5, this field would only filter an item’s code/reference number which is potentially more difficult to remember if you carry thousands of items. Now, you can use words like "wagon" or "widget" to limit search results to items that contain those words.

STEP-BY-STEP

To try this new search feature, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Sales Order Entry window and click New.
  2. Click the Lines tab to enter details of your order.
  3. In the Product Field within the Lines detail (first column on the Left), begin typing the first few characters of the product description.
  4. Hit F12 to launch the Product Selection List which is now filtered based on the description you entered above.

NOTE: An option may need to be activated in Version 6.5 to use this new search feature/logic. Be sure to contact us if you need help.
