As many of us know, the signing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law has added another layer of reporting to the government with respect to health care coverage and payroll information we provide as employers. For employer’s many of the reporting requirements become required in tax year 2015.
Here's how ACA affects payroll processing in Sage 100 ERP.
Enable Perpetual Check History
The most important item you can do today to ensure that you will have the historical data you need for 2015 is to enable Perpetual Check History in Sage 100 ERP. You should do this now before you process payrolls in 2015 by accessing Payroll\Setup\Payroll Options and on the main tab check the box next to "Retain Perpetual Check History."
Pending Changes to Sage 100 Payroll
Sage is currently in the process of developing specific enhancements to Sage 100 payroll to assist with these new reporting requirements. These enhancements will only be available for supported versions of Sage 100 ERP which currently includes version 4.5, version 2013 and version 2014.
A new report will be added to allow for the calculation of whether you as an employer are considered a “Large Employer” or not. In addition, screen changes will be made in Employee Maintenance and a new Screen ACA Employee Maintenance screen are in development which will allow you the employer to capture data that currently does not exist in Sage 100.
The official IRS forms for 2015 have not been approved as of yet, so the enhancements to Sage 100 ERP are not available at this time.
ACA Resources on Sage City Website
As implementation of the ACA unfolds over the next year, Sage has created a special website on Sage City to assist Sage customers with understanding and complying with the Affordable Care Act. The website can be found at http://sagecity.na.sage.com/p/aca.aspx. On the right had side of the screen you will see specific information related to Sage 100.
I strongly suggest you review the documents on this site if you have not become familiar with the reporting requirements of the ACA.
